If you pressed your ear against the window’s of my house hoping to see what Josh and I fight about, (well, for starts you need a new hobby, my friend) you’d be pretty bored with what you heard.  99% of the time, what we fight about is food.  I spend a ridiculous amount of time planning a weekly menu, making the grocery list, and ensuring we have enough snacks to not gnaw our own hands off while Josh spends a normal human amount of time eating food.  I’m constantly on his case about contributing to the meal plan, to which he responds, “Why can’t we have vegan buffalo mac and cheese every day?” <– I’m not kidding. Much to my surprise, Josh asked a few weeks ago if we could have...

If you regularly read my blog and pay a medium amount of attention, you’ve probably noticed that I don’t eat eggs very often.  It’s not that I won’t eat eggs, but just that the idea of eggs can really creep me out.  They’re one of those foods that I’ll eat when I specifically want them and never just because they’re in front of me (I wish I was like that with chips and cookies, am I right?). Well lately, I’ve had a never ending egg craving.  I’ve been thinking that it’s my body craving protein while doing this cleanse, since I’m avoiding dairy (and presume that it’s a pretty big contributor to my protein intake because cheese and I are besties), but then it hit me this morning — Easter! ...

Someone mentioned last week that mangoes are now in season, which instantly made me want a huge pile of mango salsa.  I dreamt about mangoes for days until I finally made it to the grocery store — only to find out that they didn’t get the memo on the whole “mango season” thing.  Definitely slim pickins on mangos.  In fact, at first I thought they didn’t even have mangos, since they didn’t look at all what I’m used to (they were tiny little baby mangoes!). I had a huge craving for pineapple anyway, so I grabbed one of those and some avocado for good measure, because avocado.  I really just threw things together out of necessity, and the result was amazing.  I served it over black beans seasoned with cumin...

Hi everyone!  No recipe — today we’re talking about AdvoCare.  Becky reached out to me with a challenge, and I really never turn those down.  Today marks Day 2 of my 10 day cleanse.  (Well, I actually started writing this the day before and had just polished off some very not challenge friendly leftover tortellini alfredo pizza, treat yoself?).  Why 10 day (just the cleanse portion) and not the whole shebang?  I had all intentions of a full 24 day challenge, but sadly found that a large portion of the supplements are not vegetarian friendly.  To make the cleanse vegetarian friendly, I still had to swap out the probiotic for one I bought at my grocery store (for about $5).   Josh on the other hand, is committed to 24 days.  I will still be...

Ever love a new dish you make it three times in two weeks?  Not even to recipe test, because it was perfect from the get go.  That’s this guy right here.  I kept saying I was making it to take photos but would immediately eat them all without taking any photos.  The first time I had the excuse of having guests over and not planning my time properly, but there was really no excuse for the second time. If you’ve been following along for a least a few months, the filling in these guys may look mighty familiar.  That’s because the pinwheels are stuffed with the same sauce I used in my spinach and artichoke pasta.  It’s all of the flavor of spinach and artichoke dip, but in a conveniently...

When it comes to the Dorito-filled taco salad you find at picnics and family reunions, there are two types of people:  Thousand island people and French dressing people.  If you saw my previous post (or just read the title of the recipe) then you know what kind of person I am.  Thousand island people — I don’t judge you too harshly, thousand island is pretty amazingly delicious in most circumstances, too.  French dressing is just better here, and you for some reason haven’t learned that yet. I have approximately 8 million cousins on my dad’s side, so when I was growing up we would meet monthly to celebrate all of the birthdays.  My aunt would regularly bring taco salad, which means I ate this at least once a month.  When I...
