So, the best part about cookies is cookie dough, right? <– If we can’t agree on that, we’re probably not friends. In fact, even when I for some reason decide to bake the dough into actual cookies, I barely heat the dough enough for the edges to be crispy and the inside raw. That’s why when I heard about EatPastry cookie dough, I was pretty pumped. A line of vegan cookie dough = cookie dough I can eat raw with no worries. And eat raw I definitely did. They also make gluten free cookie dough (in addition to wheaty cookie dough), so there’s basically a cookie for everyone. They sent me coupons to review 2 different kinds. Lucky for me, my store only carries 2 kinds or this would’ve been...
The one question I get the most in my life (if we side step the “Where does a vegetarian get her protein?” atrocity), is “What do I feed my vegetarian daughter/girlfriend/brother?” The first time I was asked this question, I drafted an email that I’ve since been editing and resending to each subsequent person — I think the total is around 15 now! I stopped eating meat at a pretty young age and was fortunate enough that my mother also didn’t eat meat. There were no arguments, no demands for compromise, and no attempts to trick me into meat, which I know can be a long struggle for many young vegetarians. I can’t stress enough what a negative impact those actions can have — there’s no reason to ever do...
By posting this recipe I am entering a recipe contest sponsored by the National Pasta Association and am eligible to win prizes associated with the contest. I was not compensated for my time. So, let’s double check. Still National Pasta Month? Yes? Goooood. Am I going to post pasta every single day this month? No. I wish. This is probably my last one, at least for now 😉 If we’re keeping a tally about how much I love noodles, I think we’re probably at reason #4893 by now. But seriously, who doesn’t love pasta? I originally started making this 2 weekends ago for Josh and I to have an easy Sunday dinner. I roasted the squash up in advance so I could quick pull it together whenever we decided we were hungry,...
By posting this recipe I am entering a recipe contest sponsored by the National Pasta Association and am eligible to win prizes associated with the contest. I was not compensated for my time. I can’t be the only one constantly craving a big bowl of pasta for dinner. It’s quick, it’s inexpensive, and it’s SO comforting. If you’re in your right mind and agree with me, you’ll be happy to know that October is National Pasta Month aka I’m going to eat pasta every day month. This recipe was inspired when my boss brought in a cream cheese + hot pepper jelly dip. It tasted *just* like a cheese rangoon (some people might call them cheese wontons?) dipped in sweet and sour sauce. YUM! For some reason, I’m always craving those...
I ran to Target last night and was SHOCKED at the offensive display they had out. Christmas decorations. On October 2nd. In better real estate than the Halloween decorations. What the what?! Maybe I’m a bit of a Grinch because I grew up down the road from the world’s largest Christmas store, but I’d really appreciate if everyone else could clutch their pearls as they stagger away from that display when they see it. Naturally, apple cider was on an end cap about 20 feet away and I was having such an allergic reaction to the sight of fake pine trees, that I had to buy a million gallons. I am now comfortably drowning in a piping hot cup of apple cider, so take THAT sneaky Christmas. And now I...
Cheesy? Cheesey? I have no idea how that’s spelled, and the WordPress spell checker isn’t doing me any favors. Uhhh and even considers “WordPress” to be spelled wrong. You’d think I’d Google it before committing to it being my in blog title (and permanently in the link!), but I like to live dangerously. Especially when it comes to cheese. Not that I eat old cheese or questionable cheese… basically, I just love eating dangerous amounts of cheese. Which I think is pretty normal. Right, guys? On topic and because you’re probably wondering, here’s a list of everything I love about cheesy potatoes: 1. cheesy 2. potatoes. End of list. Do you need anything more? What I specifically loved about these cheesy potatoes is a much longer list. If I’m not double counting the...
