Who likes burgers? Uhhh, everyone? So much in fact, that there’s a whole realm of burgers for people who don’t even eat meat. While meaty burgers get all of the spotlight, I’m willing to guess that there are just as many veggie burger recipes (if not MORE) out there than meaty ones by now — plus I still get all of the topping choices of regular burgers when building my veggie burger. I call that a total win. While Michigan isn’t known for any particular type of burger (we only really have that distinction with Coney dogs), I like to make my personal burgers stand out to convince meat eaters (like Josh) that they’re just as good, if not better, when you dress `em up properly.
I always, ALWAYS like my veggie burgers a little burnt (because I’m weird) and 80% of the time, I actually take them the standard way with ketchup, mustard, pickles, lettuce, and tomato. But sometimes you just want something a little fancier, right? I like to grill fresh pineapple alongside my burger to create a sweet and savory combo with BBQ sauce. I’ve also been known to open a jar of sauerkraut and cover my burger with thousand island dressing and serve on a rye bun.
